British Airways launches direct flights in Georgia

Direct flights between Georgia and the United Kingdom have officially begun.

Today, British Airways, the UK’s flagship airline, entered the Georgian market with the launch of its operations. A British Airways A320 Neo, carrying 156 passengers, landed at Tbilisi Shota Rustaveli International Airport.

To commemorate the occasion, an official reception was held at the Government Terminal of Tbilisi International Airport. This milestone follows extensive negotiations led by United Georgian Airports, in cooperation with the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. As a result, London and Tbilisi are now directly connected by air, with British Airways operating London-Tbilisi-London flights four times a week.

With a legacy spanning over a century, British Airways was founded 50 years ago and is a co-founder of the OneWorld alliance—the world’s third-largest airline network after SkyTeam and Star Alliance. Its partnership with American Airlines ensures smooth connections from London to numerous U.S. cities. The airline serves more than 190 destinations across 65 countries, with its primary hub at London Heathrow Airport, one of Europe’s busiest travel hubs.
