Economy Minister: Stable geopolitical environment attracts over $5 billion in foreign investment

“Georgia’s stable geopolitical environment is a fundamental factor for investors, which has also helped us attract more than five billion dollars in foreign direct investment over the past three years. Our ambitious goal is to reach nine billion euros in investment in the country’s economy in the next four years, by 2028. How will we achieve this? We have shown that we are reliable partners for international companies. Furthermore, macroeconomic stability is very important and also sends a very strong message to international investors,”- Minister of Economy Levan Davitashvili stated in an interview with Reuters.

As the First Vice Prime Minister noted, Georgia’s budget deficit is below 3%, and inflation is maintained at a low level, which is the result of a very prudent monetary policy.

“We are optimistic, and this is not just our subjective assessment that Georgia’s economy will grow very rapidly – according to the International Monetary Fund’s forecast, Georgia will grow by more than 5% over the next five years, and this is a breakthrough from the existing structure,” Minister Davitashvili noted.

According to him, without innovation and technology, the country cannot be globally competitive, so major technological and innovation centres are being created in almost every region. In the First Vice Prime Minister’s assessment, it is crucial to attract quality investments and know-how, which will increase competitiveness, and productivity, bring in new technologies, and of course, all this will positively affect Georgia’s economy.

The influential global news agency published a video and article about Georgia, referring to the country as a strategic trade hub between East and West. Along with interviews recorded with various respondents, Reuters’ footage shows Georgia’s unique investment and business environment, rapid economic growth indicators, and the opportunities that the country offers to investors.

The Reuters filming crew was hosted by the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development’s agency “Produce in Georgia.”
