Geostat: Georgia’s Q1 2025 economic growth hits 9.8%

According to the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat), Georgia’s gross domestic product (GDP) at current prices amounted to 21.8 billion GEL in the first quarter of 2025. Compared to the same period of the previous year, real GDP grew by 9.8%.

The GDP deflator, which measures price level changes, increased by 3.4% in the first quarter of 2025.

Strong growth was observed in the following sectors: Information and communication – 28.6%; Education – 27.7%; Real estate activities – 12.9%; Human health and social work – 17.9%; Public administration and defense; compulsory social security – 11.0%; Transport and storage – 9.5%; Financial and insurance activities – 8.7%; Wholesale and retail trade; repair of motor vehicles and motorcycles – 6.1%.

In contrast, declines were recorded in: Agriculture, forestry, and fishing – down 4.6%; Electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply – down 5.1%
