The government of Georgia has issued a decree to form a commission responsible for organizing and supporting the hosting of the 2025 World Fencing Championships.
As outlined by the government administration, the commission will be chaired by Shalva Gogoladze, Georgia’s Minister of Sports.
Members of the commission include the first deputies of several key ministries: Internal Affairs, Foreign Affairs, Finance, IDPs from the Occupied Territories, Labour, Health, and Social Protection. The commission also includes the Head of the Special State Protection Service and the Head of the National Tourism Administration.
In addition, the Vice Mayor of Tbilisi and the President of the Georgian Fencing Federation have been invited to participate in the commission’s activities. To guarantee thorough preparation for the event — covering all organizational details and allocation of necessary funding — the Ministry of Sports is authorized to establish an organizational group. This ministry will also serve as the secretariat for the commission.
The decree is set to be signed by Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, according to the government administration.
