National Tourism Administration launches Mziskari project to promote gastronomic tourism

The Georgian National Tourism Administration has launched a new program called Mziskari, designed to enhance gastronomic tourism by offering genuine culinary experiences through family-operated hospitality.

This initiative aims to create distinctive offerings throughout Georgia, where local families serve regional dishes and invite guests to experience traditional practices. Visitors can engage in food preparation and cultural exchanges with the hosts.

According to the Tourism Administration, families participating in the Mziskari network must meet specific criteria, such as maintaining an authentic family setting, owning a farm, and complying with safety and food hygiene standards.

The administration provides various forms of support to the families involved, including training, consulting, marketing, accessibility, and financial assistance.

At present, eight host families are part of the Mziskari network, with the administration anticipating more participants as the project grows.
