Paris Saint-Germain Football Club announced on Saturday that they have reached an agreement to sign Georgian national team winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia from Italian side SSC Napoli. The talented player has committed to a long-term contract with the club, running until 2029.

“We are thrilled to welcome Khvicha Kvaratskhelia to the Paris Saint-Germain family. He is one of the most electrifying talents in world football – not just an incredible player but also someone with great determination and a strong team spirit,” said Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, President of Paris Saint-Germain.

“Khvicha was eager to join our esteemed club, and I am confident he will fulfill his ambitions with us. Strengthening our squad further demonstrates our commitment to making Paris Saint-Germain’s team the true star,” Al-Khelaïfi added.

Sharing his thoughts on the move, Kvaratskhelia expressed his excitement about joining PSG, calling it a “great club.” He noted that he is “eager to wear the new colors” and described the transfer as “a dream come true.”

The 23-year-old winger joined Napoli in 2022, playing a key role in their historic Serie A title victory during the 2022-2023 season, which ended a 33-year championship drought. Over his time with the Italian club, Kvaratskhelia made 107 appearances, scoring 30 goals and providing 29 assists.

Recognized for his outstanding performances, he was named the 2023 Serie A Player of the Season and the Champions League Young Player of the 2022-2023 Season. Additionally, he ranked 17th in the 2023 Ballon d’Or, awarded annually by France Football to the world’s best player.

According to PSG’s statement, Kvaratskhelia is the first Georgian footballer to join the club, marking a historic milestone.
