Georgia’s tourism potential showcased at Helsinki Travel Fair

The Georgian National Tourism Administration (GNTA) is highlighting Georgia’s tourism opportunities at the Matka Travel Fair in Helsinki, Finland, the agency announced on Saturday.

Maia Omiadze, the Head of the GNTA, is attending the event alongside representatives from approximately ten state and private companies. Omiadze has conducted meetings with prominent Finnish and Northern European companies to promote Georgia as a travel destination within the European Union.

“We are actively engaging with local tourism companies and associations. I am confident that 2025 will bring greater success in this market compared to previous years, thanks to the collaborative efforts of events and the business sector,” Omiadze stated.

Heli Mäki-Fränti, a representative of the Association of Finnish Travel Industry, emphasized the growing collaboration between the two countries, describing it as full of potential.

“There is significant interest in Georgia among Finns. They are eager to travel to Georgia, drawn by opportunities for skiing, seaside vacations, and adventure tourism,” Mäki-Fränti commented.

As the largest annual travel event in the Nordic region, the Matka Travel Fair attracts around 65,000 visitors and 1,000 tourism companies from more than 80 countries over its four-day run. At the exhibition, Georgia’s booth showcases the country’s diverse tourism offerings and destinations, the GNTA noted.
