French Minister of Culture Rachida Dati awarded Georgian fashion designer Demna Gvasalia, Creative Director of the Paris-based fashion house Balenciaga, the prestigious title of Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters in recognition of his contributions to fashion and culture.
Gvasalia is the first designer from Georgia to receive this esteemed French ministerial honor, which celebrates achievements in the arts, literature, or their promotion. Throughout his career, he has earned multiple accolades in the fashion industry, including the Council of Fashion Designers of America’s Best Designer Award in 2017 and 2021. In 2022, Time magazine also recognized him as one of the world’s most influential people.
