Air China enters Georgian aviation

Air China, the largest airline in China, has expanded its services to the Georgian aviation market, as announced by the United Airports of Georgia.

The airline’s first direct flight from Urumqi to Tbilisi International Airport arrived late at night, operated by a Boeing 737-800. The flight carried 98 passengers, while 121 passengers departed from Tbilisi bound for China.

A special reception was held at Tbilisi International Airport to welcome the first passengers and airline representatives, organized by TAV Georgia.

The introduction of a visa-free travel agreement between Georgia and China has led to a surge in interest from Chinese airlines regarding Georgia. In this regard, the United Airports of Georgia has been in active talks with Air China during the Routes Asia-2024 aviation forum. Ongoing negotiations aim to establish regular direct flights between the capitals of Georgia and China.

Founded 69 years ago, Air China is China’s largest airline and a member of the Star Alliance network, providing direct flights to 183 countries around the globe.
