Tourism Revenues Increased To USD 826 MLN in 1Q25

The National Bank of Georgia of Georgia (NBG) reports that in the first quarter of 2025, Georgia received revenue of USD 826 million from travel, which was 2.3% more than in the same period of the previous year. It is worth noting that the National Tourism Administration has not yet published statistics on tourist visits.

According to the NBG, in terms of international travel revenue in Q1, the highest growth was recorded from Azerbaijan – 19.8% and from Saudi Arabia – 12.3%. At the same time, according to statistics, travel revenue from Israel stands out with a high growth rate, which in the first quarter of 2025 showed a 73.7% increase compared to the same period of the previous year and amounted to 114.2 million USD.

In 1Q2025, the share of the European Union countries in international travel revenues was determined as 12.5% ​​, amounting to 103.2 million USD. The indicator decreased by 4.8% year-on-year.

Travel revenues from Russia are characterized by a decreasing trend – in the first quarter of 2025, travel revenues from Russia to Georgia decreased by 17.2%. However, despite this, Russia is still in the leading position with 141.8 million USD.

Georgia’s tourism revenues in the first quarter of 2025 are distributed as follows:

  • Russia – 141.8 million USD/decrease 17.2%;
  • Israel – 114.2 million USD/increase 73.7%;
  • Turkey – 107.1 million USD/decrease 8.8%;
  • European Union – 103.2 million dollars/decrease 4.8%;
  • Azerbaijan – 48.6 million dollars/increase 19.8%;
  • Ukraine – 33.7 million dollars/increase 2%;
  • Armenia – 28.2 million dollars/decrease 10%;
  • Iran – 27.2 million dollars/decrease 8%;
  • Belarus – 15.9 million dollars/decrease 3.8%;
  • Saudi Arabia – 8.7 million dollars/increase 12.3%;
  • Other countries – 197.4 million dollars/increase 6%.
